You should not count on something before it happens.

My Opinion:
I see this as you shouldn't expect something to happen a particular way as you never know what might happen. As stated above you can't count on everything going to plan.

R A T I O N A L E:
  • I have created two scenarios - both which are the same person (the girl and the woman) one viewing what she wants her life to be like (counting the chickens) and the other showing how her life actually ended up.
  • In the first bubble there are images of what the girl aspires to have in her life. Large amounts of money, expensive car, to become a doctor, to travel to France. This is to show how she expects her life to pan out. However, the second bubble is showing how her life did not turn out as she first thought it would.
  • I added in images to the background of each side that i thought helped get the message across to the viewer and show the situation.
  • The number which is barely viewable is to resemble the years passing by to get to 15 years in the future.

When It Rains, It Pours!

When it rains, it pours!

When things go wrong, a lot of things go wrong at the same time.

My Opinion:
I view this saying exactly as stated above. It's alike the saying "Bad things come in threes" - usually one bad thing does not happen alone. When one thing goes wrong it's likely many things shall go wrong.

P R O J E C T:

R A T I O N A L E:
  • I have created a visual way of showing the viewer how the person came to be in this situation - numerous things going badly to lead to the most undesirable situation
  • I have used the image which looks alike stairs going in a downward direction to show how the events played out to the viewer so they understand that this begun with a car accident and ended up with a man having no money, home, food etc.
  • I have made all of the image black and white to show the bleakness of the situation, However i left the umbrella a blue colour to represent sadness as well as convey the need for an umbrella for when it rains it pours - linking in the saying to the image i've created.

Other people's circumstances seem more desirable than one's own.

My Opinion:
I have always viewed this saying in the manner that not everything is as it appears - you may think something is better than what you have and you want it because of that reason, but this doesn't mean that it is actually better. It may be worse.

P R O J E C T:

R A T I O N A L E:

  • Each situation can be viewed as better or worse than the other - one person may wish their life was alike the others life or in their situation and vice-versa
  • The background image I used for this project was to add a visual effect to match the saying almost a literal way instead of using text
  • I've put layers into the image that help represent the situation in which both of the girls are in helping the viewer to understand what they are going through
  • I tried to make the image balance equally on each side of the image which I think was reasonably achieved to make it more visually pleasing as well as communicating both situations equally.
